Artist Statement:
I have found a passion in creating figurative paintings, and for a while, those which portray the daily lives and experiences of college students while dealing with the societal pressures thrust upon them while receiving their education. The ideas are conveyed in a way that is specific but also broadly affecting a general population and reveals the situations through surrounding context. The main idea is relatability and empathy for the subjects, seeing their humanity. As a queer artist, I find empathy to be more important than ever. I want others to feel the way I do, in the same way I feel overwhelming empathy for others.

I specialize in oil paint on canvas, but am experimenting with painting digitally. My recent delve into digital works involves illustrating characters, their personalities, their beauty, and their troubles, with a gaze directed at the viewer in order to reach them. I am now at a divide between painting and digital; wanting to use broad strokes and delve for a deeper meaning, while also wanting to make simplified art that shows a character's personality in its raw form, using clean lines. My art now fights between the two, sometimes combining techniques from both.
